What’s happening in September?

Welcome new students and families, and welcome back returning students and families! Your Title I team hopes you had a wonderful summer! We wanted to dive right into the 2024-25 school year with a quick survey regarding Summer Learning. We know summer learning is critical to ensure our children don’t lose the valuable growth they have made throughout the school year. Your feedback will help us continue what is effective and make changes if necessary. Please take a moment to provide your feedback here.

A few changes this year…

First, we want to thank the parents who completed our end-of-the-year survey. Your feedback was thoughtful and very helpful. Taking your input into consideration, we will no longer be hosting coffee hours in the morning, instead, we will host a lunch-hour conversation and provide a virtual option to attend via ZOOM. These regular opportunities for collaboration and feedback will happen monthly for each school community. Dates and times will be shared soon!

Reading with Paws! For kids who would like to practice their reading skills

Are you looking for a patient listener while you practice your reading skills?  We have the pawfect pups for you! Read with Tonks or Little Bear, certified therapy dogs. They’ll be waiting with tails wagging to listen while you read! Please sign up for a 15-minute session by calling the children's desk at (401) 739-5440, #5.

The Rhode Island Department of Education is offering facilitators at no cost for parents during IEP/504 meetings. A Facilitated IEP/504 meeting provides the option for having a neutral third party to promote effective communication and assist a student’s IEP/504 team with coming to a consensus on issues related to the student’s IEP/504 plan. The impartial facilitator keeps the focus of the meeting on the best interests of the student. The facilitator will also guide discussions during the IEP/504 Team meeting by asking student-focused questions. Flyers are available at each Title I school, and more information can be found here, https://ride.ri.gov/students-families/facilitated-iep504-meetings
